Robert Schultz

With over 30 years of experience, Robert Schultz’s expertise lies in interacting with customers and making their experience a perfect fit relative to their needs and wants.

At Schultz Furriers, Robert, 63, works with a wide range of clients with varying lifestyles and incomes.  Whether it’s a client who wants to buy a mink coat outright or someone who simply needs a line sewn up, each are treated with the same quality service and respect. His skill at developing and maintaining key relationships with clientele has spanned decades, becoming the backbone of the company’s continued growth and success.

Originating from Newark, NJ, Robert graduated from Hillside High School in 1966, and went on to pursue a bachelor of arts in business from the University of Miami with a major in psychology. Robert went on to work in a myriad of fields, earning business experience in various arenas.  In 1980, he took a leave of absence from his other business pursuits to help is father, Herbert Schultz, run the Schultz Furrier business and never returned.

Robert’s experience in the fur industry began when he was 14 and working for a fur storage company during the summer.   He also got the chance to work for his uncle, Alfred Klein, at Alfred Klein Furs on Madison Ave in Manhattan where, at the time, all of the celebrities and movie stars bought their furs.  It was there that Robert’s uncle taught him the intricacies of pattern making and design, and the ins-and-outs of the fur business.

For Robert, his first and most memorable moments of Schultz Furriers were working with his father, whom he had a very close relationship with.  He believes that one key factor for Schultz Furriers success is that it’s a family-run atmosphere where everyone is working together towards the same goal with mutual respect.

Robert is excited for what’s in store for Schultz Furrier. In a market where the number of independent furriers has dropped dramatically—from 14 furriers in Millburn alone in the 1970’s to five currently in the entire state of New Jersey—he is optimistic and looks forward to continued growth and success. Though the new showroom is very modern and stylish, he hopes that the business continues to attract a wide variety of clients seeking classic fur pieces, accessories, or needing simple repair work.

Robert currently resides in Denville and enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife Chris, sons Ashley and Carter, and friends. With his support, Schultz Furrier is a major contributor to approximately 60 charities, and whether it’s sponsoring or planning charity events, or donating prizes, he always likes to stay very involved within the community.
